Champions need to get back to work: Arthur
The coach of Pakistan cricket team, Mickey Arthur mentioned that winning the champions trophy along with Pakistan cricket team was a great experience and yet best 3 weeks of my life but things are getting serious now so the team should get back to work.
Pakistan, positioned eighth in the eight-group Champions Trophy, staggered the cricketing scene when it whipped safeguarding champion India in the last in June.
“To go from absolute darkness to winning it … is the best three weeks of my cricketing career,” Arthur told reporters in Lahore on Thursday.
“The players merited all that they have after the Champions Trophy since it was a sensational accomplishment by every one of them,” Arthur said Pakistan was not good at the start of the tournament but I’m so pleased with the way they battled back.
Their dedication, their hard working attitude everything was remarkable, however it’s done now, it’s gone, that is done,” Arthur said.
Pakistan has a long break and its next global activity is to have Sri Lanka in October in the United Arab Emirates. The Pakistan Cricket Board has arranged a preparation camp for the players, beginning in Lahore from Aug. 22, and Arthur said players’ wellness was a key factor.
“That (Champions Trophy victory) was just the start of the journey, we’ve got to keep pushing to keep getting better and better and that we’ll only do with real hard work,” he said. Arthur originally said there is no player who can take the place of Misbah and Younis but still Asad shafiq and Azhar ali can fill the gap in between.
